The mission of the Lopez Island Historical Society is to collect, preserve, share and interpret local history among island residents and visitors in order to increase awareness and appreciation of the resource for the educational benefit of this and future generations.
Our vision is of an exciting, welcoming, educational place to learn family and local history, tell our stories, foster respect for our unique island and culture, and serve as a legacy for future generations.
Our job is to make sure Lopez Island’s incredible legacy continues to be part of every Lopezian’s life. We have been working hard the past few years to stabilize and catalog the museum’s collection, but have run out of space. We continue to receive photos, artifacts, and other memorabilia from settler family descendants, and we are doing our best to catalog and preserve these items; but we are losing ground. We need your help now!
Please donate now to help us meet the challenges of maintaining the Museum and Port Stanley School, create programs that are relevant and valuable to our island community, and preserve the memories that make Lopez Island a special place. For more information on this fundraising campaign please see the Support LIHS page.
